To apply for a library card:

Anyone wishing to apply for a library card, please stop into the library with a photo id and then fill out a short form.

It's free and easy. Under age 14, please have a parent or guardian sign the form.

For Children

Welcome to Colo Public Library Children's Area!

 

Books of various levels, dvds, toys, puzzles and stem activities.

 

After School Program for K-4 grade students. Every Wednesday from 4:00-5:00 during the school year.  Shuttle bus from the elementary school will drop off at the Library.  The program is free and the library will provide a snack, crafts, games, stories and stem activities. Check our calendar for the next one.

 

Early Literacy Storytime for toddlers and preschool age children.  Every Monday at 10:00. The program is free and library staff will provide stories, songs, movement and lots of fun.

 

Stem Cart and Toys.  In the children's area we have a stem cart donated by the Deb & Jeff Hansen Foundation/Iowa Select Farms.  We also have lots of educational and fun toys.  Feel free to play at your leisure.

 

1000 Books Before Kindergarten.  This is a free nation wide program that encourages parents to read 1000 books to their child/children before entering kindergarten.  To participate stop by the Library and pick up a book bag, alphabet flash cards, and two books.  Keep track of how many books are read to your child and once you have reached 500 you will receive a fidget toy and two more books, then once 1000 books are read the child receives two books, phonic flash cards, bookmark, dry erase marker and writing strip and a certificate.
